BAN THE BAG
- Australia uses an estimated 5 billion lightweight plastic bags in a year
- To put it in perspective thats 10 million bags a day
- The average bag is only used for about 12 minutes but it will take up to 1000 years to break down
- When plastic bags get into the environment seabirds, turtles, birds and marine life can swallow or get entangled in them.
- Lightweight plastic bags will be banned in Queensland and Western Australia from 1/7/18, in line with ACT, SA and TAS.
